AI Management System Standard for Practical Success Event

Thank you to Standards Australia, the National AI Centre, and IBM for hosting the Applying the AI Management System Standard for Practical Success event today at IBM’s Sydney office. It’s fantastic to see leaders in the field prioritising discussions around responsible AI practices and standards, creating a pathway for businesses to adopt AI with integrity and effectiveness.

Beth Worrall, Responsible AI Program Manager at the National AI Centre, shared valuable insights into AI adoption and the need to foster a responsible AI industry. It’s clear there’s still a gap between organisations that endorse voluntary AI standards and those that have actively implemented them—a significant challenge.

Kobi Leins (PhD, GAICD) offered a fresh perspective, breaking down AI components—from sensors and data to algorithms, ML, and actuators—and sharing a striking example of handling unstructured data. The session also touched on vital topics like ISO 42001 and the guardrails essential to enabling AI responsibly. Our group discussions on ethical considerations in chatbot use were engaging and underscored the importance of managing AI with a robust framework.

This session was a valuable opportunity to revisit the AI Management System Standard and related standards while also connecting with like-minded professionals committed to advancing responsible AI. A special shout-out to Kelly Henney for the stimulating discussions on AI management and to Denise Schalet for the ongoing exchange of insights on AI regulation and policy.

As Optimise AI continues to be at the forefront of AI solutions, these dialogues and partnerships are critical for ensuring we remain a responsible player in the industry. We look forward to seeing how the evolving AI standards continue to shape responsible AI practices!
